This is an overnight camping trip.

We will travel to the high country Gila River environment to explore powerful medicinal herbs with Marayah Rai, owner of Rootswoman Medicinal Botanicals in Pinos Altos, NM. . A hands-on medicine-making demonstration is included in this overnight camping experience, located at a wilderness Hot Springs Retreat in the Gila National Forest. Fee includes camping for one night and use of the hot springs facility.

"Desert Medicinal Herb Cultivation, Part 1"
When: July 24th - Sunday
Time: 9 A.M. to 12 noon
Where: Guadalupe Montessori School Community Garden,
St. Mary's Academy,
1731 N. Alabama,
Silver City, NM.
Cost: $ 30.00
Monica Rude, owner of Desert Woman Botanicals in Gila, NM, and Naava Koenigsberg, owner of Bear Creek Herbs in Silver City, NM, will teach us hands -on planting of several herb plants, discuss their cultivation and use, how to deal with the desert elements of sun, heat, drought, poor soil, etc.

What to bring:
For the" Desert Medicinals Herb Cultivation" class: Water, snacks, sunscreen, and sturdy shoes.
For the "Exploring Forest and Riparian Medicinals" class: We will share a potluck dinner Saturday night at the retreat. You are responsible for all of your own food, snacks, etc. . We will meet at 11:00 a.m. at the retreat, Highway 15 North out of Silver City at mile marker 38.9, turn right on Access road, and go down the hill 1/8 mile to Jackass Lane. Turn right and go another 1/8 mile to Wildwood Retreat. We will situate, eat lunch and begin class promptly at 1:00 PM on Saturday. Please have camping equipment or vehicle for camping, water, sunscreen, and sturdy shoes, protective clothing for possible rain and your willingness to explore!
